Travels #2

North Pier Light

Travels: Fast Film and Pancakes North Pier Light. Nikon N80, Voigtlander 28mm f/2.8 Color-Skopar, #8 (K2) yellow filter. Ilford HP5+ ei 1,000 developed in Diafine.

For this trip to Duluth I tried a 2 camera body/2 lens approach. Nikon N80 cameras each with a pancake lens mounted (28mm and 45mm) were compact enough to be carried in one small bag. It was an enjoyable travel kit. Easy to carry and, importantly, easy to use. For film, I brought just HP5+ and rated it at 1,000 speed for the whole trip; an attempt to keep the film processing to one developer. It worked really well for these evening and night photographs and for the indoor and cloudy day photos. It did not work as well for the photos made on sunny days; those negatives have too much contrast. Oh well, further experimentation is good reason for another trip.
